Development of Social Cost and Benefit Analysis (SCBA) in the Maqāṣid Shariah Framework: Narratives on the Use of Drones for Takaful Operators

Takaful operators are part of the Islamic financial institutions that expected to achieve commercial and social objectives by their stakeholders particularly takaful participants (policyholders). First, this study aims postulate a new framework measure cost effectiveness including economic benefits drone-assisted technology in context maqāṣid Shariah. Second, intends investigate how industry can benefit from technology, terms reduction. This paper presents an early finding forms bigger research project which is focusing on use drone for disaster victim identification (DVI). employs thematic analysis qualitative method engaging key informants who Shariah expert, practitioner accounting expert. In emerging economies like Malaysia, adoption sporadic when some industries such as military agriculture quite experienced with it; but sector almost none. provides preliminary findings suggests there potential usage perspectives SCBA framework. The main contributions are: (1) derived perspective and, (2) application examining drones especially during disaster.
